TAKING CARE AFTER DELIVERY.

Halo yummy mummies, how are we all doing, hope we are all doing great and the Tinnie-Winnies too and guess we are bonding well? Hope you are all breastfeeding little ones well? Please do, subsidy wasn’t removed on breast milk. I know we have been taking care of ourselves so well, but here are a few things we should pay due attention to:
Care for Mothers:

  •     Pay extra attention to your body woman, you need to heal, for people with normal deliveries, you might have a tear, you need to care for it to heal, here are some few tips:

  • Do warm seat baths: get a comfortable washing bowl that you can seat in, put enough warm water, few drops of Dettol, sometimes salt too & seat in it for 2-5 minutes, this can be done 3times daily.

  •       Pay attention to your nipple: this is very essential because that is where your little one will get his food from for the next months, always wash the head of your nipple very well, so that there is nothing blocking it so that baby doesn’t have to struggle because in the process of struggling, he hurts you, sorry it will heal, it’s just for a moment plus you can get nipple cream (Lansinoh nipple cream).

  •      Watch what you eat, don’t just put anything into your mouth, it’s not only you eating now, you are eating to feed your baby and not all food goes down well with the baby. “Mothers that are hypertensive: please watch your salt intake”.

  •       Take lots of fluid, warm drinks please at least for the first 6weeks, this helps the breast milk flow, and also helps the clotted blood flow out too.

  •        Clothing: wear warm clothes, also you will notice that your wardrobe collections are changing, this is because you need to wear clothes that are comfortable and freely allows you to breastfeed your baby.

Care for Babies:
Babies look so fragile, as if they will break into 2 anytime, there are some people, men especially that do not know how to carry babies, they are so scared that when they carry the child they will fall off their hands, that is why we should care for them diligently and accord them extra attention. A few tips on how to handle your tinnie-winnies yummy mummy:

  •        Be gentle with his fontanel, Fontanels are soft spots on a baby's head, we care for this by dropping hair oil on the head of the baby. Don’t let his head be too dry all the time.

  •       Take care of the umbilical Cord: you need methylated spirit, clean cotton wool, Vaseline baby jelly, after bath and after changing your baby’s diaper, always clean the umbilical cord with methylated spirit and cotton wool to clean the cord and use the Vaseline baby jelly to rub the skin around. After the cord has come off, use small wash cloth and warm water to press around it, (As a proper naija mom) I press the abdomen area for nothing less than 6weeks ( the gist behind it is so the child doesn’t have puff-puff-like shape at the end of the day)

  •      This point is for you if you have a boy, please take care of his circumcision: at any point when you circumcise your child, few tips for you: after every bath with the ring on his penis, place some clean LUKEWARM water not HOT water oo (abeg) in a clean bowl, and sit the child in the bowl by assisting him, (don’t live the child unassisted) and apply penicillin. Do this morning and night, when you change his diaper, clean his penis with clean wipe and apply the penicillin, if you do this consistently for 5days at most, the ring is supposed to come off, if after 7days there isn’t any change, and you are not feeling comfortable with it anymore, please see your doctor, (I have seen a baby that the mother brought to the hospital, after 3weeks plus the baby still had his ring on his penis with blood stains, the child was in pain, crying, the baby was growing, his penis had grown too and the ring can’t come off, the doctor had to remove it by himself) please don’t let this happen to your baby, please, watch.

  •         For you with a girl child, when her ear has been pierced, please watch it too; take care of the pierced area.

  •     Immunization: The first immunization is essential for your child; its helps boost their immunity against, germs, bacteria and diseases, please don’t forget and don’t be too busy to take your child to the hospital for immunization. There will be subsequent immunizations too, please take them seriously, don’t lets miss any and all immunization have different importance.
  • Baby care isn't limited to this alone, as the baby grows you learn other forms of care too.

Thanks for stopping by, check back soon.
